Off-Grid Community

About

Aeneas Valley is an unincorporated community in a north-south valley of the Okanogan Highlands in eastern Okanogan County, Washington, with a valley floor around 2,200 to 2,600 feet ringed by 6,000-foot peaks. It is a remote, well-served area where electricity did not arrive until 1952, postal service ended in 1974, and there is still no cellular coverage; off-grid cabins wired for solar are common. The service hub of Tonasket lies roughly 32 miles away, with access via Aeneas Valley Road.
