About

Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage occupies 280 acres of rolling farmland in northeast Missouri near Rutledge, founded in 1993 with members moving on to the land in 1995. Between a third and two thirds of the village's energy is produced on site from photovoltaic solar and wind, supported by a solar equipment purchasing cooperative that brings the cost down for individual households. Ecological covenants commit members to renewable power, sustainable building materials and keeping vehicles at the edge of the village rather than at the door. Roughly 39 members live there among about 65 residents.
