Rural Subdivision

About

Hawaiian Ocean View Ranchos (HOVR) is a Kaʻū-district subdivision of roughly 3-acre parcels on the ocean side of Highway 11 between mile markers 76 and 78, at elevations from about 600 to 2,000 feet on broken black lava in Lava Zone 2. Homes rely on rooftop rain catchment while overhead electricity reaches much of the subdivision. Roads are privately maintained by the Hawaiian Ranchos Road Maintenance Corporation, with a separate volunteer Hawaiian Ranchos Community Association (incorporated 1984) serving owners.
