Santa Fe Trail Ranch is a covenant-protected private residential subdivision south of Trinidad in Las Animas County, Colorado, just north of Raton Pass near the New Mexico state line. It spans approximately 16,800 acres at 6,500 to 8,100 feet elevation, divided into 454 privately owned 35-acre parcels with homes on roughly half of them. The Property Owners Association maintains about 83 miles of dirt and gravel roads, and a Metro District operates a community water system; many lots are developed off-grid with full solar, cisterns, and septic.
