Off-Grid Community

About

Yaak is a remote off-grid community in the Purcell Mountains of far northwestern Montana (Lincoln County), near the Idaho and Canadian borders. One of the most isolated communities in the lower 48, its dispersed residents live largely off-grid on forested rural parcels (solar, wells, and septic are the norm), with the Yaak Community Hall and the Dirty Shame Saloon anchoring the valley.
