About this plan
What the 14×24 Cabin with Porch is for.
Eight feet of porch depth is the point where a porch stops being a landing and becomes a room: room for a table, a swing, or boots and firewood without blocking the door. On this plan it runs the full 24-foot front.
The loft covers the back 8 feet of the 14-foot depth, the full length of the cabin. The strip along the front windows stays open to the roof so the living space does not feel low.
Lap siding and an asphalt shingle roof keep this one looking like a small farmhouse, and both are materials you can buy at any lumber yard.
Good for
- Outdoor living: the porch is nearly a second room
- A weekend cabin for a family of four
- Lap siding for a traditional farmhouse look
