About this plan
What the 16×24 Cabin with Loft is for.
The 16×24 is the size where a cabin starts to hold a real kitchen, a bathroom, and a separate sleeping space. A common layout puts the kitchen and bath along the back wall under the 10-foot loft, and leaves the front 6 feet open to the roof over the living room.
The 10/12 roof gives the 10-foot loft enough height to stand near the middle. The chimney is included so the roof framing and the materials list account for it.
Windows on all four walls, including two on the side under the loft, keep both floors bright.
Good for
- A part-time or full-time small home
- A bedroom loft over a kitchen and bath
- Room for a wood stove with proper clearances
