Nānāwale Estates is a Puna District subdivision near Pahoa, off Highway 132 by Lava Tree State Park, with 3,440 home sites, mostly compact lots with some parcels up to about 4 acres. Main roads are paved while side roads are cinder, maintained by the community association. Water is rooftop rain catchment since county water does not reach the area, and while overhead electricity is available, many cabin properties are set up off-grid with solar and catchment tanks.
